Foliage
I started shooting instax for this project because I wanted to take a break from trying to learn how to shoot film. Digital felt too immediate, film felt frustrating. But instax was liberating. If you see a photo, you take a photo. No focus. No exposure triangle. Just instant (pretty washed out) shots of whatever was closest to you.
The photos in this zine are from North Portland alleyways and unpaved roads in southeast neighborhoods. They’re from St. Johns and that part of Woodstock that starts to feel like the deep countryside, where the asphalt turns to gravel and then dirt, and then a convenience store appears (minutes from the major city, but still) deep in the trees.
